We moved to Hawaii!!

We moved to Hawaii! Never in a million years did I think we would live here! We are so very thankful and blessed to be here! As you all know Justin is in the Army and Hawaii is our first duty station! We will be here for 3 years and move to another duty station for 1 year! Justin has a 4 year contract, and if you are station overseas you can only stay for 3 years unless you re-enlist and extend (some army rule lol). Before we knew where we were going to be stationed we were hoping for Colorado, Texas, or California! We didn’t even think about getting Hawaii or any overseas place since its pretty rare to get that because people that are allowed to pick where they want to be stationed pick those places! So we got really really lucky to get Hawaii! When Justin told me where we were stationed he was still in basic training and he only gets a 5 minute call which feels like 30 seconds! He called me while I was at work and I told my manger at the time and she let me talk to him because she knew how important it was for me! Once I answered tears started running down my face because I was just so happy to hear his voice and see his face (we were on facetime).

Little background on basic training: Justins basic training was 15 weeks! No communication except letters and y’all it was soo hard (I made a blog all about it if you are interested)! Every 3 weeks we would get a 5 minute phone call and like I said earlier it feels like 30 seconds!

Anyways, after telling each other how much we love and miss each other Justin said “I know where we are getting station” I was sooo excited and he said “Hawaii”. At first I thought he was joking and I said “wait are you serious” And he said excitedly “yes babe we are going to freakin Hawaii!!!!” I STILL thought he was joking because...what. Then I realized he actually wasn’t joking at all we were both so excited!!

A few days went by and I told my parents and my best friend! Our parents were so happy for us but they also wished we were closer to home! Which is completely understandable since we are still so young! I told my best friends, Emily and Addi, and they freaked out! They couldn’t believe it and they we so happy for us!

Justin got to Hawaii on November 24, 2019 and I was still back home in Texas because he had to do a lot of paper work to get a house on base and a bunch of other stuff. Justin then came home for Christmas and we spent a lot of time with family and friends! Then we both flew to Hawaii on January 1, 2020! Saying goodbye/see you later was pretty hard on both of us! Hawaii was a huge culture shock for us! Everything here is Asian/Hawaiian so the food is SO different! Definitely nothing like Texas haha! We miss Chick-fil-A, chipotle, Texas road house and Cracker Barrel a ton!! We are still trying to get use to it here and try to blend in with the locals even though Justin still wears his cowboy boots haha! But overall we love it here and we're very blessed! The beaches here are out of this world and I can just stare at the mountains all day! We are just so grateful and we are so excited to see what God has in store for us!!
